Water Mitigation Technician – Michigan Center, MI

For over 50 years, Kustom US has provided emergency property restoration and construction services to residential, commercial, industrial and governmental property owners through facilities located throughout the US.

The Water Mitigation Technician is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency service jobs to perform advanced techniques for water and fire mitigation, as well as, remediate areas damaged by mold, water or fire. Responsibilities include maintaining a fully stocked and prepared company vehicle to drive to work sites, obtaining necessary paperwork, preparing work areas for demolition, cleaning, equipment setup, drying and continually monitoring moisture levels until project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency board up, water extraction, and fire mitigation services efficiently and safely
  • Prepare rooms / areas for work activities to include setting up staging areas and equipment
  • Perform demolition and general clean up
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing debris
  • Set drying equipment and complete moisture mapping
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to include securely storing equipment, tools and supplies while not in use
  • Interface with customers and relay information to Project Manager and Superintendent when appropriate
  • Complete paperwork, upload documents, and provide job updates into database as needed
  • Maintain warehouse, equipment, tools in clean and working condition
  • Ensure the company vehicle is fully stocked at all times
  • Monitor consumable material stock
  • Monitor the safety, security, efficiency, and appearance of the company vehicle
  • Monitor the safety, security and appearance of the company jobsites
  • Recognize and mitigate jobsite safety hazards

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, lift 50 LBS and occasionally climb ladders, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in extreme hot, cold and humid conditions
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for after-hours service calls
  • Clean driving record and background check

Required Education and Experience

  • 1-year experience in construction and / or restoration
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Understanding of basic construction safety
  • IICRC water certification or willingness to obtain
  • Familiarity with IICRC S500, S550 and S520 Standards
